Halloween - wots that all about?

j0384732.jpgA night of goulish fun and messing around? So where is all the harm in that?

It is not the historical roots (the new years celebration of Celtic pagan druids 2000 years ago) that is the issue I have with Halloween. The event has been changed beyond all recognition. Although we must remember that the roots of Halloween are spirtual - with the finishing of the harvest season came the onset of winter and death and dead spirits were very much part of this festival. This is different to the political roots of bonfire night, another well celebrated national festival.

Bryn Jones

bryn-jones.jpgIn our topic on heroes of the faith I must introduce you to a giant called Bryn Jones. He was a mighty man of faith and word who changed the course of the church in many nations, including England.

He managed to fit into his life an incredible amount of stuff. Both for the church, for his family and his personal life. He planted churches, evangelised nations, was a father to leaders, was a revealer of new revelation, was a prophet, apostle, father, husband, grandfather, studied the bible avidly, was a thinker, writer of books and poetry and loved to buy and sell antiques.

He was a man of passion, principles, vision and the Spirit.

What a night the Delirious? gig was!! The place was absolutely packed. Tim Hughs started with an electric time of praise and worship. Delirious? then came on and rocked the house! The atmosphere was fantastic with everyone jumping in the house from the front to the back. They may be getting on in age but their energy, passion for God and creativity is not waning. Even if their music isn’t quite down your street just to worship with a few thousand enthusiastic people with passion and energy is a night to remember!

193

193.pngMany of us went to a meeting last Saturday about 193. Let me explain to all you youth what the 193 thingy is.

The mission 193 is a humungous adventure for God’s people. It has started with a vision given by God to visit all 193 countries in the world (recognised by the United Nations) over two years. People includinj0289214.jpgg family, teens, children and single adults are going to travel in two’s to a country they know God wants them to visit. Two bibles will be taken to that country in their own language and then the people visiting will pray and prophecy over the country and claim it for Jesus.

There is a great web site up and running that will show when and who goes to visit these countries. There will be pictures posted and information shared. Click here to go there.

Everyone under 17 must be accompanied by an adult.

Where do you fancy going???

Video with a difference

Herenuma-numa.jpg is a video that started in someone’s home and spread to this. He made the video a few years back but I was reminded about this on the television this week as someone was talking about it. There are still new versions of the Numa Numa song regularly being downloaded onto the internet years afterwards. Videos with cats, cousins, mad people, cartoons, special effects and more, all singing along to this middle of the road song. The phrase Numa Numa is in the Wikpedia encyclopedia (take a look here). He even went on American pop idol to perform it. How can something so simple and fun become so famous?

With the internet and media today things travel so fast. It takes just a bit of imagination and fun to catch people’s hearts. Now let your imagination run with you and think what if someone could present the good news about what Jesus has done in a way that was the gossip of the internet. Just think how many homes it would touch. Well you have got a week free - anybody up for a fun challenge!!!!

Not impressed with muscles

Like to give this man an arm wrestle? He looks fairly intimidating doesn’t he? God says that he isn’t impressed.

Psalm 147:10&11
    The strength of a horse does not impress him;
how puny in his sight is the strength of a man.Â
Rather, the LORD’s delight is in those who honor him,
those who put their hope in his unfailing love.

Fab Sundays

children-6-small.jpgcongregation-3-small-2.jpgcongregation-7-small.jpgchildren-7-small.jpg

Wot a brilliant Sunday! Not only is this the ninth week in row that at least one person has become a Christian - but there were four people this week! How great is that! I was talking to another person who said they had been having stomach pains for three days and had not eaten much at all. after being prayed for to be passionate again for Jesus they went out for lunch and ate a massive meal. It is exciting to see God move so strongly. We have had weeks of baptisms and testimonies and it is still continuing Believe that your friends will get touched by God - he is in the business of saving people!!

The Lock In

Here are some of the pictures from the ‘I’m a Celebrity get me out of here lock in’. We were locked in with 50 teens and 15 helpers from 8pm to 9am!! Split up into 7 teams their were challenges all night - well till 2am. Brain challenges, daring fetes, physical exursions, team games and just general giddy things. Some of my favourites are in the photos below the chair races, wotsits between the toes, rapidough and pillow fight on a skateboard. I couldn’t fit all the photos in today so the eating the bugs I will save till later. Happy laughing!!!!! Read on to see the pictures, please write your best memories in the comments
