Seeing Above and Beyond

j0313970.jpgHe who walks righteously and speaks with sincerity,
         He who rejects unjust gain
         And shakes his hands so that they hold no bribe;
         He who stops his ears from hearing about bloodshed
         And shuts his eyes from looking upon evil;Â
He will dwell on the heights,
         His refuge will be the impregnable rock;
         His bread will be given him,
         His water will be sure.Â
Your eyes will see the King in His beauty;
         They will behold a far-distant land.

For those who want to see above all the clatter of this world and see the lands of the kingdom of heaven. For those who want to feast their eyes on the King of Kings in all his beauty and majesty. For those who want to live on the spiritual heights in God full of bread (word) and water (spirit) there are some practical things you can do.

Watch the way you walk, watch what your hands do, watch what your ears hear and watch what your eyes see.

Walk - make all your every day steps follow Jesus. Make sure you stay doing God stuff and not your stuff.

Hands - don’t let your hands get things you want through bad means. Don’t be desiring things you can hold with your hands, but that which fills up your spirit.

Ears - let your ears only listen to good reports and encouraging words. Ignore that which will break down others or yourself.

Eyes - don’t look at that which you know isn’t good for you. Your eyes will corrupt your heart so keep them under control.

Alkazelter

What a great word. These tablets for your stomach are soothing and calming to those in discomfort. Dropped in water they fizz and bubble and have a powerful reaction. They hold enough power to propel a small rocket up to 9 metres into the air. All schools seem to be making alkazelter rockets now a days.

If we bask in the Holy Spirit we will be alkazelters. We will bubble and fizz and explode in God given power. We will also be soothing and calming to others who need healing and refreshing.

Psalms 23:5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
         You have anointed my head with oil;
         My cup overflows.

The Ball

100_1278.JPGI have an announcement to make about the Winter Ball on the December 1st. The speaker we have got coming is Phil Knox from Fort Rocky. Those who came to Fort Rocky will remember his talk on sheep. It’s fantastic isn’t it. He is driving all the way up from Birmingham just for us.

    Stir up to good deeds

    Hebrews 10:24
    And let us consider and give attentive, continuous care to watching over one another, studying how we may stir up (stimulate and incite) to love and helpful deeds and noble activities

    Here is a spoon for stirring up. It is so that we can always be aware of other people’s needs. Sometimes we do not feel on the ball and are trying to catch up with homework or coursework. Maybe we have lots of jobs to do. When life is like this it is easy to concentrate on what we have to do for ourselves. Sometimes it takes other people to take the focus off ourselves and back onto God and helping others.

    Good deeds and being helpful does not only make others feel better but it can transform our lives. Thinking about others can often stop us feeling sorry for ourselves, stop us getting down about things and build up our own self confidence and worth. Carrying out noble activites can make us feel a great sense of acheivement and satisfaction.

    Those who follow Jesus will do as he did. Jesus loved so much that he became the servant of all. Because he learnt to be the best servant the bible says this(Psalms 47:5) Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of joy above Your fellows. Jesus was the happiest guy ever because he learnt the secret of obeying his Father and loving others.
