The World is not fair - just fickle!
If you ever needed proof that the population was fickle just look at what happened to Laura White on Saturday. For those of you who are not XFactor fans you may not know that Laura was voted out this week. She was tipped as a favourite for being one of the finalists and is now out! Trying to be a favourite or popular in society is like trying to run after a kite; you never know which way it is going to fly next. One day people and friends like you and the next day you are no longer flavour of the month.
It is fantastic that the God who picked us doesn’t change his mind. Even when we mess up he never has an off day on us. We are never out of his favour or out of his love (Romans 8:39). Where is it that you are going to put your trust and confidence? In the friendship and acceptance of people or God?

Eat Well
At the end of Romans 5 and the beginning of Romans 6 Paul is talking to the church about becoming mature through understanding the things of God. Without knowledge and understanding we stay immature and weak, just like a child can not grow up inwardly without going to school and gaining understanding of the world and things around them. They would stay foolish, unproductive, incompetent, vunerable and weak.
The best way to gain Godly knowledge is to learn to use the bible well. Read it prayerfully, study it, ask question about it, ask those more mature than you about it, think about it, meditate on it , obey it and let the very words of God slip deep into your soul and nourish the very heart of you.
One of my fovourite verses in the bible is Luke 2:19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. Mary recognises the weight of all the words that have been spoken to her by God and held them inside her like treasure. God’s words are not spoken lightly. They reveal his very heart and will toward you.
If you are hungry for knowledge try reading the end of Hebrews 5 and the beginning of Hebrew 6. While you are thinking about the hunger of mighty men and woman for God’s words read Psalm 119 and investigate just how the mighty king David felt about them. If you are not hungry - get yourself hungry.

You are what You Eat
Proverbs 15:14
A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash.
Knowledge and understanding will help you live life to the full. If we find out who we are in God we will live confidently and powerfully. If we find out what God has done for us we will live totally free and forgiven in the favour of God’s presence. If we know what God has called us to we will fulfill all that God made us to be and live life to our full potential. If we know who God is we will become worshippers who are amazed everyday by his holiness, goodness, purity and wonder.
It is not enough to live on the experiences and emotions of the day, or the last meeting. Faith needs to be stronger than your last knees up with the church or the last tingle down your spine. Without knowledge and understanding we can not apply our faith to our life and live strong when persecution or questions arise.
How do we get knowledge? - we go out looking for it. We feed on all we can find that will help give us understanding of God things. Don’t spend your time feeding on trash on the tv. There can be so much rubbish information that comes our way. There are endless magazines on celebrities, tragic stories, fashion advice, the lastest gossip and love life tips. This is not the information and knowledge you need for life - it is God knowledge that you need. Eat and savour all the God knowledge you can get - it will make you grow up strong and healthy.

Dreams can be fulfilled
How amazing to think that only 40 years ago in America black people were not allowed to vote, were not allowed to sit on certain parts of buses or trains, were not allowed to drink out of public fountains or enter certain public places and yet today we have seen a black man voted into the Whitehouse today. In the times of segregation ehe land belonged to the whites, the authorities were white and the police were white. The last slave to die was reputedly Charlie Smith, who died on October 5, 1979 - only 30 years ago. It didn’t seem as if black people would ever seem equal and counted as brothers.
Martin Luther had a dream “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” There are many who opposed his dream even to the point of killing him. (to see his full speech scroll down to the bottom)
It is exciting to see the dream of so many coming true. Whatever your dream, however far away it seems keep on dreaming and dream big. Don’t ever let circumstances make you question what you see in your heart. Be someone who makes history - just like the results in America today.
Congratulation Obama.

A New Song
Don’t you just love hearing a great new song? It lifts your spirits and makes your face smile. I love listening to a new rhythm, new poetic expressions of someones devotion to God, skill musicians making the harmonies soar and a tuneful melody that bring tears to my eyes.
David loved singing new songs to God - he says so 6 times in the Psalms. In Psalms 40:3 he cries out “He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord.”
As we grow in revelation of who God is we will find that everytime we sing it will be in the light of our new understanding. Even old songs can be sung in a new way. How tragic it would be if the song of our heart and our understanding grew stale and lacked lustre. Who would be drawn to us then? What miracles would happen as we sang? Our songs should be lovely songs of fresh devotion to the one we adore.
When we get to heaven we will still be singing new songs. Rev 5;9, 14;3. Even throughout the whole of eternity we will still find fresh things from our heart to sing about, fresh expressions of an existing truth and a passion so strong it will be just like we are falling in love with Jesus afresh everyday.
Sing to him a new song today, and tommorrow and the day after that…………….

Tree63 A Million Lights
In response to Carol’s comment I have posted the video of A Million Lights. It is definitely the same band and a very intimate song. Anybody else got any history of the band or seen them before? Which is your favourite song?

Just a thought
Jonathan Ross and Russel Brand
What a fine mess these two have got themselves into!! In a moment of undisciplined high spirits they were foolish and unsensitive. No-one stopped them, or suggested that it wasn’t perhaps a good idea until it was too late. Then after they had made the mistake everyone got on the band wagon to have their say. Is it that the nation likes to stamp on someone when they are down, or was it that they had enough of the attitude of these two overpaid entertainers who are at times so gifted and intelligent but throw it away for cheap laughs?
The event that most made me think was a discussion between 4 comedians. They were saying that this event is tragic if it means that freedom of speech is to be restricted and that they have to stop their silly antics and reduce comedian exploration? They argued that comedy needs to be let loose wherever it seems fit to be really funny.
We looked yesterday at the verse that says that Jesus was the happiest person on earth. Does comedy really depend on crudeness, shock tactics or rudeness? Why does it seem necessary to be rude to be funny? Jesus was the happiest person on earth and yet he was not crude or rude - so the height of funny must be clean fun, fun that everyone can partake of without offence. Being holy doesn’t mean a great belly laugh is out of the question - far from it having a great time is part of God’s plan for us. He gave us freedom for us to enjoy life.
