 It is important to search for answers to questions. Questions like:Why are you here? What is the purpose to your life? Is there a point to anything?
We have to face the fact that if we believe there is no God there is no point to anything, either good or bad. If we believe that God is real and humungous - he must be boss. If he in charge he is going to have plans and reasons for doing things. So what is his reason for making you?
If God has a purpose for us he will want to tell us what he is up to. So we believe he has got some guys to write it down for us in a book -it is called the bible.
The bible talks to us about the time he made people. It says he made us to know us. He wanted to enjoy our company and the pleasure of knowing us. We were made to have a relationship with God.
The trouble is we mucked this up. Rather than having a fun relationship with God we became absorbed with ourselves, our own looks, our own enjoyment and our own friendships. In thinking about ourselves we became selfish and started filling the world with problems. Famines because we won’t share, murder because we are jealous and rape because we were filled with lust for our own satisfaction. Things on the world became selfish, violent, lustful, lazy, out of control and far from God ideals.
 So what about you? Do you do stuff that is rubbish and wrong? Have you ever lied, swore, punched, stole, hated, been jealous……….etc. Even you and I have filled our lives with muck that gets in the way from having a relationship with God. We have done bad stuff - our punishment for messing up should be death. This death is eternal -a life without God as he can not have muck in his house!!
So to sort out the situation God had to step in to save us. He had to find someone to take away all this muck and also someone to take our punishment for doing bad stuff. He found someone to do both jobs. He loved us so much he sent his only son to die and carry the muck with him out of our lives and our world. His name was Jesus. He died for us, in our place, taking our punishment and also taking away all the bad rubbish.
 So how come everything isn’t fine and dandy? Why do people still do bad? Why can you not hear God to chat to in a relationship? Cos the muck is still in your life. You carry it around with you, adding to it with each bad move you make and blocking out God. If you chose to put it down you can. You need to do the following:
- 1. Recognise you have mucked up and messed up and are stuck without God
- 2. Want to change, turn away from your own way and follow God
- 3. Say sorry to God for doing your own thing, going your own way and making such a bad mess
- 4. Believe that Jesus came to die in your place and take your bad stuff away
- 5. Pray to him, ask him for a new start, ask him to be your boss and to start a new relationship with you
